BTS receives presidential welcome in Mexico ahead of sold-out shows
To say that BTS got royal treatment upon their arrival in Mexico is an understatement!
No less than President Claudia Sheinbaum welcomed the South Korean supergroup at the National Palace on Thursday, ahead of their sold-out "Arirang" shows.
BTS was also presented at the presidential balcony, where they waved to a massive group of fans who gathered at Mexico City's Historic Center.
"Muchas gracias for having us," leader RM said in a speech. "And we can't wait for tomorrow's concert. Let's have fun together. I love you. I adore you. Thank you so much."
The courtesy call took place ahead of BTS' three shows at the GNP Seguros Stadium on May 7, May 9, and May 10.
"This is for the youth," Sheinbaum said in her morning press conference ahead of the visit. "They (BTS) have something very beautiful: What they sing always conveys messages of friendship, of peace — very humanistic messages — and of love."
BTS, comprised of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, is currently on their "Arirang" World Tour, which kicked off in April in South Korea.
The global superstars released their comeback album "Arirang" in March after a four-year hiatus.
