BTS becomes first K-pop, Asian group included in ‘Icons’ of Guinness World Records 2026

The Guinness World Records (GWR) has recognized BTS as one of its “Icons” of 2026.

The K-pop group was included in the Pop Culture list of “Icons,” alongside Taylor Swift, Barbie, Beyoncé, Drake, Elton John, MrBeast, and Paul McCartney.

The recognition is especially significant for BTS, as the group became the first K-pop and Asian act to be included on the list.

GWR recognized BTS as the first K-pop act to reach No. 1 on the U.S. albums chart with their 2018 album “Love Yourself: Tear,” as well as for their 2020 single “Dynamite” becoming the first K-pop track to surpass one billion streams on Spotify.

On its official website, GWR described the “Icons” list as “the pioneers, the lifelong obsessives, the dedicated and the dreamers who have come to define what it means to earn a place in Guinness World Records history.”

BTS, comprised of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, is currently on their "Arirang" World Tour. It kicked off in April in South Korea, following the release of their comeback album "Arirang" last March. — LA, GMA News
