Viral 'Linda Walker' actress Zhang Yingfei set for PH visit for youth education campaign
Chinese actress Zhang Yingfei, best known to Filipino audiences as the viral “Linda Walker” character from the hit micro-drama “The Heiress Who Won with Brains,” will visit the Philippines next month for an education advocacy campaign timed with the reopening of classes nationwide.
In a statement, the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) announced the 22-year-old actress will be in the country from June 8 to 11 to support the “Education for a Better Future” advocacy and the group’s educational charity projects.
Her visit coincides with the opening of classes on June 8, which organizers said underscores the importance of education, perseverance, discipline, and hope among Filipino youth.
Zhang rose to popularity in the Philippines through AI-dubbed Tagalog clips of the Chinese vertical drama “The Heiress Who Won with Brains,” which circulated widely on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and other short-video platforms.
The series follows Linda Walker, a young woman who overcomes poverty and hardship through intelligence and determination, themes that resonated strongly with Filipino viewers and sparked online discussions, memes, reaction videos, and motivational posts.
According to organizers, the actress’ visit is expected to draw attention from students, educators, content creators, and fans of Asian entertainment.
On June 8, Zhang is scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno at Manila City Hall before touring Intramuros and Binondo as part of efforts to promote Philippine tourism.
One of the highlights of the trip will be a June 9 outreach program at Quezon City High School, where Zhang and FFCCCII officials are set to distribute school supplies and hygiene kits to students.
Expected to attend the event are Education Secretary Sonny Angara, Chinese Ambassador Jing Quan, and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.
Organizers said Zhang is also expected to deliver an inspirational message encouraging students to “study hard, dream big, and never surrender to difficulties.”
The FFCCCII said the visit aims to strengthen educational exchanges and cultural understanding between Filipinos and Chinese.
The federation also highlighted its long-running educational and civic initiatives, including its “Operation Barrio Schools” program, which has donated thousands of school buildings in rural communities nationwide.
Organizers said the popularity of the “Linda Walker” story reflects how themes of education, integrity, perseverance, and family sacrifice continue to resonate with many young Filipinos.
