Lauv steps back from releasing music due to mental health: 'I'm deeply struggling'

Lauv took to social media to open up about his mental health struggles.

On Instagram, the “I Like Me Better” hitmaker shared that he has been “trying to be strong enough to get back out there” and share his music, but it’s been a challenging time for him.

“I have to be honest with myself and with you: I'm deeply struggling right now, and I need to step away for a little while to take care of my mental health,” Lauv wrote.

“I am so sorry to my fans, to Khalid, and to everyone affected by this,” he added. “You all mean everything to me.”

Lauv also said his struggles with mental health “have never been a secret,” and are reflected in most of his songs. In 2019, he opened up about dealing with depression.

“If being open about this right now helps even one person look at their feelings and try to address what's going on, then hopefully something good will come from it,” he said.

Lauv also promised to “do everything” to get healthy so he can return to creating music.

“Thank you all for understanding and for sending me love all these years,” he said. “And thank you to everyone who's ever been a friend and a supporter.”

The singer was last in the Philippines in September 2025 as the headliner of Coke Studio Live.

Aside from “I Like Me Better,” Lauv is also known for “Paris in the Rain,” “Who,” and Superhero.”
