BTS leader RM named National Museum of Korea's first-ever global ambassador
RM of BTS is now the face of South Korea's national museum.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the National Museum of Korea announced Saturday that RM has been named its first-ever global ambassador, selected in recognition of his longstanding interest in traditional Korean culture and his contributions to preserving the nation’s cultural heritage.
Per the report, the global superstar has actively supported heritage conservation efforts in recent years.
In both 2021 and 2022, he donated 100 million won (approximately P4.1 million) to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation, helping fund the preservation and restoration of Korean cultural properties located abroad.
Known as an avid art enthusiast and collector, RM has frequently shared his appreciation for museums, exhibitions, and visual arts with fans worldwide.
He is also scheduled to hold a special exhibition featuring works from his personal collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art this October.
As the museum’s inaugural global ambassador, RM will take part in various promotional initiatives aimed at introducing Korean history, traditional culture, and artistic heritage to international audiences.
“I will do my best to help more people appreciate the beauty and value of our cultural heritage,” RM said in a statement released by the museum.
National Museum of Korea Director You Hong Jun welcomed the partnership, expressing confidence that RM’s global influence would help bring greater international attention to the institution.
“It is meaningful to share the beauty of our cultural heritage with the world together with RM,” he said.
