Winwin concludes activities with NCT, SM Entertainment this July
Winwin of NCT is set to conclude his exclusive contract and activities this July.
On the NCT Weverse page, SM Entertainment thanked fans for their continued love and support for Winwin.
"Following careful discussions with Winwin, we have mutually agreed to conclude his exclusive contract, effective July 9. Accordingly, Winwin will conclude all activities as a member of NCT," the announcement said.
"We are deeply grateful to Winwin, who has been with SM Entertainment for more than 10 years since his trainee days. We sincerely thank him for the time we have shared together and wholeheartedly support him as he embarks on a new journey," the agency added.
Winwin also wrote a letter and posted it on Instagram, saying he wanted to write it from the heart.
The K-pop idol said he feels nothing but gratitude for everyone he's met and the relationships he's built over the past 10 years starting as a trainee then as a member of NCT 127 and WayV.
Winwin added that although there were difficult and exhausting times, as well as days when he faced disappointment and adversity, "what remains in my heart even more are the moments filled with happiness, gratitude, and joy."
"As time passes, those small but precious memories have always been my greatest source of strength, supporting me through life and making every step I took meaningful. They became the most important driving force that made me who I am today," Winwin said in Korean, as translated to English.
Winwin said that when he debuted as an idol, he was able to travel the world and perform on stages where he could meet fans.
"From the very first moment I stood on stage as an SM artist until now, if I hadn't had all of these experiences, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I also would never have had the chance to meet the countless people who recognized me and showed me their love," he said.
He also thanked Czennies and WayZenNis.
"I hope that these past 10 years have also become warm, beautiful, and unforgettable memories for you," Winwin said. "From now on, I will never forget the dream I had when I first started. With an unwavering heart, I will continue to do my very best and keep growing as Winwin."
Winwin debuted with NCT 127 in 2016, as well as its Chinese subunit WayV in 2019.
