Perez Hilton hospitalized after authorities respond to his home following alarming livestream

Cuban-American celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has been hospitalized after authorities responded to his home following an alarming livestream on TikTok.

Citing the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO), People reported on Wednesday (Philippine time) that deputies were dispatched to Hilton's residence in Florida after receiving multiple calls from concerned social media users who witnessed the livestream.

When authorities arrived, they found Hilton alone inside his home where the video had been livestreamed.

With help from the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, deputies from MDSO safely transported Hilton to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

The Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals were also deployed to provide Hilton's family with support.

In an earlier statement sent to Newsweek, the MDSO said that deputies had chosen to "tactically disengage" with Hilton as they monitored the situation.

"In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,” the MDSO said.

“Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public."

In Hilton's livestream that has since been removed from TikTok, he appeared to self-harm and was covered in what looked like blood. His account on the platform has been suspended.
