Twice's Jeongyeon to depart JYP Entertainment
Jeongyeon of Twice is leaving JYP Entertainment, where she debuted as a member of the K-pop girl group in 2015.
The K-pop idol took to Instagram on Monday, where she shared a handwritten letter confirming her departure from the agency.
"JYP has been my second home since my teenage years; a place where I’ve spent so much time and created so many cherished memories.I am now preparing to start a new chapter in a new place," she wrote in Korean.
Per Jeongyeon, she is grateful to JYP Entertainment for helping her grow, and to the members of Twice and their fans for always believing in her.
She also said that her role in Twice will remain "unchanged" and shall remain her priority.
"The one thing I truly want to tell ONCE is that even though I am moving on to a new chapter to take on new challenges, TWICE, the center of my life, will remain unchanged, just as it is now. Standing before ONCE as a member of TWICE will always be my very first priority," she said.
"I will prepare step by step with all my heart—both for my journey as TWICE’s Jeongyeon, whom you have loved so much, and for the new challenges ahead as Yu Jeongyeon."
According to a report by Soompi, VARO Entertainment announced on the same day that Jeongyeon has signed an exclusive contract with them, which will allow her to pursue opportunities in acting.
“We are sincerely happy to create a special connection with Yu Jeongyeon, who has diverse charms and limitless potential. We deeply resonated with Yu Jeongyeon’s authentic attitude and sincerity toward acting," VARO Entertainment said.
Back in July, it was reported that Twice member Tzuyu was allegedly set to leave JYP Entertainment.
At the time, JYP commented on the report, saying the group is "currently in the period of discussing contract renewals, and we will inform you as soon as matters are finalized."
Twice, comprising members Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu, debuted in 2015 under JYP Entertainment.
Their hits include "What is Love?" “Alcohol-Free,” "Strategy" feat. Megan Thee Stallion, "Fancy," "The Feels," "Talk That Talk," and more.
The group brought their This Is For world tour to the Philippine Arena in Bulacan in October 2025.
