Julie Andrews says she will not appear in 'Princess Diaries 3'
Julie Andrews will not reprise her role as Queen Clarisse Renaldi in the upcoming third installment of “The Princess Diaries.”
According to Today, the actress herself confirmed that she will not be part of the movie, which will continue the story of Mia Thermopolis, played by Anne Hathaway.
“I’m not going to be in it,” she said.
“I think the story is slightly different, and I’m not quite sure how they’re dealing with that. But it’s too late for me to do it. I think the story has to continue in Princess Mia. It’s her story. It’s not really mine.”
News of "The Princess Diaries 3" began in 2022 when Disney was reportedly developing a continuation story to "Princess Diaries 2."
Talks of a third installment of the highly successful franchise began as early as 2019, when Anne confirmed the existence of a screenplay for "The Princess Diaries 3" and said they "all want to make it happen."
In 2024, Anne confirmed on Instagram that she is reprising her role as Mia.
