NCAA: Chad Gammad focused on basketball, bigger Letran role amid Apple David relationship spotlight

Chad Gammad has been thrust into the spotlight after his relationship with courtside reporter Apple David was confirmed, but the Letran Knight said he wants to make a name for himself in basketball, especially with a bigger role expected for the Intramuros-based squad in NCAA Season 102.

The sophomore guard said he continues to work on his game as he prepares for the season, which is expected to begin next month.

“Just practicing every day, just trying to get better every day for the upcoming season, and I’m taking it day by day,” Gammad said on the sidelines of his signing with lifestyle brand Anta as an ambassador.

“I’m just hoping I do get a good season so I could get my name out there.”

With Jun Roque and Deo Cuajao no longer in the lineup, Gammad is expected to step up and join Titing Manalili and Jimboy Estrada in helping lead the team.

“For this year, I’m gonna be the one who will step up and do what I gotta do for the team,” he said.

“I feel the pressure for it, but I just have to embrace the pressure. This opportunity is very rare for me, so I just have to take advantage of every moment that I’ll get on the court.”

Despite the pressure, Gammad said it helps that David also understands the importance of basketball in his career.

“She’s helping me every day by just being there. She’s very caring of me, she understands that basketball is really important for me,” he said.

Gammad added that he has also been limiting his presence on social media to tune out the noise surrounding their relationship.

Aside from Gammad, University of Santo Tomas' Carl Manding and University of the East's Rachel Lacangaya also signed with Anta in the said event.
