AJ Edu, Gunma sweep Dwight Ramos, Levanga Hokkaido in B.League Manila Games
AJ Edu and the Gunma Crane Thunders swept Dwight Ramos and Levanga Hokkaido after a 101-91 overtime victory in the second and final game of the B.League Manila Games on Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
After Gunma took a 44-39 lead at halftime, Hokkaido rallied to tie the game, 70-70, at the end of the third period.
The two teams went neck-and-neck in the fourth quarter, with Hokkaido taking an 89-87 lead with 1:31 remaining. However, a Takuto Nakamura basket tied the game at 89, while Dwight Ramos and AJ Edu missed their respective final attempts to send the game into overtime.
In the extra period, however, Hokkaido was limited to just two points as Gunma scored 12 to pull away and take the win.
Nakamura led the Thunders with 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Yuma Fujii added 18 points. Stanley Johnson chipped in 17 points.
Edu, Gunma’s Filipino import, finished with nine points, nine rebounds, and one assist.
Keisei Tominaga led Levanga Hokkaido with 34 points, six rebounds, and one assist, while Ramos had 17 points, three rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
Gunma also won the opening game on Wednesday, 98-81.
