Gilas Women advance to 3x3 basketball gold medal match, assured of Asian Games medal

Gilas Pilipinas Women have assured the country of at least a silver medal as they ousted Thailand, 13-8, in the women's 3x3 basketball semifinals of the 2026 Asian Games on Friday at the Kinjo Futo Station Square Venue in Japan.

But Gilas Women aren't settling for silver as they shoot for the gold medal later at 6 p.m. against host and powerhouse Japan.

Maria Pasilang shone on both ends for Gilas, delivering five points and seven rebounds while Kacey Dela Rosa and Kennan Ka chipped in four and three markers apiece to send the Thais packing.

Back-to-back Dela Rosa baskets and a layup from Ka sent the Philippines to a crucial 5-2 start before Pasilang completed a putback bucket and sank a freebie to stretch that to 9-3.

Another Pasilang free throw gave Gilas a huge 12-4 lead but Thailand made a gallant stand behind three straight points from Kwanjira Panted to pull to within five, 7-12.

Pasilang, though, responded with a jumper to close it out even after a floater from Palida Naumkong in the final 1:22 of the game as the Philippines secured a shot at a gold medal.
