UAAP: Just another game for former Tamaraw Veejay Pre as UP falls to FEU
At least in his first encounter with his former team, Veejay Pre found himself on the losing end as the University of the Philippines fell to Far Eastern University, 90-79, on Sunday.
The win marked FEU’s first victory over UP since 2019 — a period that saw Pre experience some of those losses during his stint as a Tamaraw.
This time, he suffered another defeat at the hands of his old team.
As it turns out, though, it was just another day in the office for Pre.
“Nothing much, especially since we lost. But we’ll return to practice and then bounce back,” he said in Filipino after Sunday’s loss, when asked what it was like going up against his former team.
While it may have been just another game for Pre, he still led the Fighting Maroons with 16 points to go with five rebounds and an assist. Still, he was hardly satisfied with his performance.
He was, however, happy to share the court with the likes of Kirby Mongcopa, one of his mentors during his time at FEU.
“I’m happy we went up against each other. Back in high school, I asked him for tips because we were teammates. It’s a pleasure to share the court with him. We’re opponents on the court, but outside of it, we’re friends.”
FEU is tied with Ateneo de Manila at the top of the standings with a 3-1 record, while UP slipped to 2-2.
