Yam Concepcion powers Mapua to back-to-back wins, earns NCAA Player of the Week honors
Yam Concepcion has been at the forefront of Mapúa University’s rekindled fire in NCAA Season 102.
After a flat start that saw the Cardinals drop their first three games, Concepcion helped spark back-to-back wins to get their campaign back on track.
Concepcion made an impact beyond the scoring column in Mapúa’s breakthrough 55-54 win over defending champion San Beda University, finishing with four points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
The star forward then erupted for a game-high 22 points against Arellano University, adding 11 rebounds, five blocks, four steals, and three assists to hand the previously unbeaten Chiefs their first loss of the season.
Concepcion averaged a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds from September 28 to October 2, 2026 to earn NCAA Player of the Week honors.
He beat out De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s Justine Sanchez, Arellano’s T-Mc Ongotan, José Rizal University’s Jamhir Eligado and Lawrence Mangubat, and Emilio Aguinaldo College’s EJ Castillo for the award.
