NCAA: Aldous Torculas' all-around brilliance lifts San Beda to Group A summit
Aldous Torculas continued his stellar play to lead San Beda University to back-to-back wins in the NCAA Season 102 men's basketball tournament, propelling the Red Lions to the top of Group A as the tournament enters its home stretch.
The versatile forward delivered an all-around performance against José Rizal University on Friday, tallying 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and a steal to fend off a late rally by the Heavy Bombers and seal the 75-71 victory.
He followed it up with another impressive outing on Monday against Emilio Aguinaldo College, leading the Red Lions with 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals in a clutch 89-86 win.
His consistent all-around play earned him the Collegiate Press Corps (CPC) Player of the Week award for October 19 to 23, edging Colegio de San Juan de Letran's Aaron Buensalida, Mapúa University's Cyrus Cuenco, and Lyceum of the Philippines University's Matt Rubico for the weekly honor.
With two straight victories under their belt, the Red Lions have drawn level with the Heavy Bombers atop Group A, with both squads holding identical 7-3 records.
