NCAA: Jimboy Estrada steps up as Letran claims Group B top seed
Filling the void left by injured star guard Titing Manalili, Jimboy Estrada took charge as he powered Colegio de San Juan de Letran to the top seed in Group B of the NCAA Season 102 men's basketball tournament with another stellar performance against Arellano University last Thursday.
The 24-year-old veteran delivered on both ends with 25 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three-point range, alongside four rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks in the Knights' 91-77 victory.
His timely performance earned him the Collegiate Press Corps (CPC) Player of the Week honors for October 26 to 30.
Estrada edged Jose Rizal University’s Sanlea Peñaverde, San Beda University’s Dan Marcelo, Emilio Aguinaldo College’s Jude Bagay, and College of Saint Benilde’s Jhomel Ancheta for the weekly citation.
The win marked Letran's sixth consecutive game without Manalili, who remains sidelined with a knee sprain and is expected to return to action in November.
