The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) came down hard on Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao Monday, slapping the temperamental mentor with a total of P80,000 in fines for, among others, criticizing the officiating in the Elasto Painters’ 121-113 loss to Powerade in Game 2 of their PBA Philippine Cup semifinals. Guiao was penalized P50,000 for using profane language against Powerade forward Doug Kramer, an offense that netted him a technical foul during the Jan. 6 encounter at the Araneta Coliseum.             Another P30,000 was meted on the Rain or Shine coach for the statements he issued to the media during the post-game interview, which commissioner Chito Salud said were detrimental to the league.             Salud met Guiao in his office prior to Game 3 of the other semifinal encounter between Petron and defending champion Talk `N Text.             “There's a line between emotions and unsportsmanlike behavior,” Salud said in a statement issued. “There are values, particularly about sportsmanship, that we in the PBA will always uphold. Sportsmanship is basic and mandatory, particularly in our league since we want our personnel to be role models for our youth.”             The commissioner added, “He [Guiao] explained he was merely venting his frustration with what he perceived to be bad calls made against his team. I explained to him we did not find official ground to believe the officiating in Game Two was not fair and competent contrary to coach Yeng's statements. I also explained to him we found there were no grounds for his actions and statements.” -- AMD/OMG, GMA News
