PBA: Bolts searching for a surge, may replace Famous with Barron

The Meralco Bolts may be looking to tap their third import of conference, severing ties with Jarrid Famous and replacing him with former Red Bull import Earl Barron.   Point guard Paul Artadi, who was acquired by the Bolts in-between the All-Filipino Cup and the Commissioner's Cup, tweeted Monday, "We have a new import. Earl Barron. Legit big man."   He later retweeted Barangay Ginebra Kings import Chris Alexander who said, "tht is a good mov for u guys paul" and replied to Alexander, "is he good?"

Barron, for his part, confirmed that he is flying in to Manila via his own Twitter account. The 30-year old journeyman played for the Red Bull Barako as their import during the 2005 Fiesta Conference.   Since then, he has had several stints in the NBA and the NBA Development League, as well a tour of duty with GMAC Bologna of Legadue Basket in Italy.   Most recently, he was signed by the Golden State Warriors on January 14 as a back-up big man due to a season-ending injury suffered by Kwame Brown. The Warriors then waived him last February 6 in order to create roster space for Chris Wright from the NBA D-League's Dakota Wizards.   The Bolts initially tapped another NBA veteran, Jelani McCoy to be their import, but prior to the start of the season, opted to replace him with Famous.   In three games, one win, two losses, with the Bolts, Famous has averages of 43.67 minutes, 26 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 s teal and 1.67 blocks.   Meralco has yet to release an official statement regarding the move, leaving open the possibility that the team will wait for the results of their game next Sunday, against the Powerade Tigers, before making the change. - Adrian Dy/OMG, GMA News
