ABL: San Miguel improves to 9-3 after win over Singapore
San Miguel continued with its sizzling pace in the 3rd ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) as the Beermen annexed its fourth win in a row, a 75-65 triumph over the Singapore Slingers on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City. The Beermen romped to their ninth win in 12 games and avenged their early defeat against the Slingers in Singapore last February. Import Lamar Johnson contributed 19 points and 13 rebounds, while fellow reinforcement Jarrid Famous added 17 markers to secure the win for the Beermen against the Slingers. "We made our shots and we were able to control (Donald) Dulay because he really hurt us when we lost to them," said San Miguel coach Bobby Parks. RJ Rizada led SMB's locals with 11 points followed by the nine and eight each of Leo Avenido and Junmar Fajardo. Dulay, a former PBA guard who had 23 points against the Beermen in the Slingers' 71-63 win last month, could only come up with three points in the game. Louis Graham led all scorers with 25, while former AirAsia Philippine Patriots import Donald Little and Donald Little, a former import of the AirAsia Philippine Patriots, added 18 points for the Slingers as they fell to 4-9. The Slingers were only down by three, 31-28, at the half after coming back from a 21-9 deficit in the first 10 minutes of play. The Beermen, however, answered with a 9-0 run early in the third to enjoy a 50-36 spread midway in the period. Avenido scored six straight in the fourth to push San Miguel's lead to 62-46 with six minutes left in the game. — JVP, GMA News Scores:
