PBA-DL: Gems big men carry Cebuana Lhuillier to second win

Cebuana Lhuillier captured its second win in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup after edging out Café France, 84-72, Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.   Vic Manuel led the Gems with 18 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks while Pari Llagas tallied 13 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks.   Currently, Cebuana Lhuillier is second in the team standings behind the NLEX Road Warriors, which owns a 3-0 win-loss card following an 86-53 win over Junior Powerade earlier in the day.   The Gems had a sizeable margin at the half with a 47-24 lead but the Bakers were able to decrease their deficit to nine points in the fourth quarter.   Lester Alvarez had 11 points in his first game as a Gem as he silenced Café France as he clustered five straight points for the Gems to take a 70-59 advantage.   “We had another big lead but it’s human nature that you tend to be complacent afterwards. We have to adjust to that,” said Luigi Trillo, head coach of the Cebuana Lhuillier Gems.   John Orbeta came off the bench to lead Café France with 17 points followed by Mike Parala, who had 14 points and grabbed seven boards. - AMD, GMA News     The scores:   Cebuana 84 - Manuel 18, Llagas 13, Alvarez 11, Celada 10, Exciminiano 8, Hayes 6, Lozada 6, Apinan 5, Atkins 4, Almazan 2, Austria 1, Mangahas 0   Cafe France 72 - Orbeta 17, Parala 14, Nimes 12, Knuttel 11, Mabayo 8, Ighalo 5, Magat 2, Guillen 2, Semira 1, Jasmin 0,  Gallardo 0   Quarter scores: 25-13, 47-24, 63-46, 85-73
