PBA suspends TNT's Raymundo, fines B-MEG's Devance and Urbiztondo
PBA Commissioner Chito Salud brought down the hammer on Talk 'N Text rookie Pamboy Raymundo, fining and suspending the former San Sebastian Stag for his role in a skirmish late in Game Four of the Commissioner's Cup Finals. Raymundo was ejected after being assessed a technical foul and a flagrant one foul during the game, with the latter being elevated to a flagrant two foul by the Commissioner. He was then slapped with a P40,000 fine, and in addition, drew a one-game suspension, which he'll serve out on Wednesday's Game Five. At the 1:47 mark last Sunday of the game between the defending champions TNT and title challengers B-MEG Llamados, Raymundo and his defender, Josh Urbiztondo, were caught exchanging elbows, leading to technical fouls being levied on the pair. B-MEG's Joe Devance then escalated the situation, throwing the ball at Raymundo's face, causing the diminutive point guard to retaliate with a closed fist to the back of the Llamados' big man. The players on the court then had to be separated by returning to their benches, and after consulting the replay, the referees gave Devance a flagrant two foul, an automatic ejection, and Raymundo a flagrant one foul, which led to him being tossed as well. For their actions, Devance was fined P20,000, while Urbiztondo will be forced to pay P2,400. Neither though will be suspended, and will both be available for Wednesday's tie-breaking game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The league confirmed the various punishments in a press statement released Tuesday. — JVP, GMA News
