PBA: Cone disappointed despite B-MEG's win over Meralco

B-MEG coach Tim Cone finally heaved a sigh of relief after Meralco import Champ Oguchi's game-tying three-pointer failed to hit its mark.
 
Cone labeled the Llamados' 88-83 win as "chamba" (by chance). "We were sloppy with the ball. We were lucky that Oguchi didn't get his shots."
 
B-MEG earned its third win in four matches, but the 54-year-old American coach did not hide his disappointment on how the Llamados played.
 
"I am happy that we won but certainly not pleased with our performance. Good thing our guys hanged in there," said Cone.
 
He added that B-MEG's championship hangover showed in the game. "We can't play like this and expect to continue to win. We got to step it up."
 
"Hopefully we can get these guys in their right mind and playing better with more focus and more concentration."
 
Marc Pingris' three straight free throws broke an 83-all deadlock and gave B-MEG an 86-83 lead with seven seconds left in the game.
 
Cone praised the efforts of his versatile big man. "Big free throws from (Pingris), we are trying to manage him, his finger's still in pain, he's priceless."
 
Marqus Blakely paced the Llamados with 31 points, seven rebounds and five assists. "(Blakely) played well tonight. He's such an all-around performer he shut (Mark) Cardona down during the last play."
 
James Yap scored 19 while Pingris finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the reigning Commissioner's Cup champions.
 
Cardona tallied 27 markers for Meralco, which dropped to 1-3 to join Alaska and Talk 'N Text at the cellar.
 
Chris Ross added 18 points, while Oguchi and Asi Taulava chipped in 12 and 11 markers apiece. — JVP, GMA News
