PBA Weekly Warriors will be a regular feature, putting the spotlight on five hoopsters who stood out in the previous week of play. This fourth article tracks the performances from June 13 to June 17's games.
Week 1 - May 20 to May 27
Week 2 - May 30 to June 3
Week 3 - June 6 to June 10

Hitting the hard(Nor)wood
Gabe Norwood - Rain or Shine guard
Versus Barako Bull: 15 points (2/3 3pt, 4/8 FG, 5/5 FT), 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 1 TO
Norwood hasn't quite recaptured the magic that fueled his standout 2009-10 season in which he set career highs in multiple categories, but he showed he was still capable of big games when needed. With Paul Lee logging just eight minutes of playing time before exiting with a shoulder injury, Norwood produced his best game in a long time, flashing the all-around production that made him such an intriguing player coming out of George Mason U.
Who's your daddy? Rey Guevarra is
Rey Guevarra - Powerade swingman
Versus Ginebra: 13 points (6/7 FG, 1/1 FT), 1 assist, 1 steal 0 turnovers, 1 foul
Sometimes simple efficiency is just as good as a flashy, packed stats sheet. "Fafa" Rey was one miss shy of a perfect 7-for-7 game, but his 13 in 17 minutes was the perfect jolt the Tigers needed amidst shooting slumps from Gary David (1/8 3pt) and JV Casio (2/8 3pt). Also impressive, after averaging 4.3 fouls per game in their last three outings, he had just one in a game decided by three points versus Ginebra.
Pingris: the big man is back
Marc Pingris - B-MEG Llamados center
Versus Alaska: 7 points (3/6 FG, 1/2 FT), 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block
The B-Meg Llamados got by in their first two games without Marc Pingris, thanks to Yancy De Ocampo and Rafi Reaves playing a bit above their heads. But with their big man back dominating the boards, the Llamados become that much tougher, as he forms a productive partnership with import Marqus Blakely. His 13 boards versus his coach's former team was a conference-best number too.
J-Wash them out
Jay Washington - Petron Blaze big man
Versus B-MEG: 29 points (3/5 3pt, 11/17 FG, 4/5 FT), 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 1 TO
The Blaze Boosters boast of a star-studded line-up, but managing all those talents when there's only one ball available has been a huge difficulty, a hindrance that led to Petron dropping two games in a row. Against sister team B-Meg though, the team went to him again and again, exploiting his match-ups versus the Llamados big men. The result was a decisive win, and a tactic worth repeating: run the ball through the two-time Best Player of the Conference and make the other team play off him.
Mac Barac attack
Mac Baracael - Alaska swingman
Versus Talk 'N Text: 20 points (3/5 3pt, 8/14 FG, 1/2 FT), 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 TO
These are dark days for fans of the Alaska Aces, as the team stares some franchise-low numbers in the face while languishing at the bottom of the standings, looking up. One bright side has been their development of sixth overall pick Mac Baracael, their lone local bright spot versus TNT. Ironically, Baracael is a former Gilas player, the same program their current head coach, Luigi Trillo, feels strongly against. - AMD, GMA News

Get the point? With Paul Lee out with a shoulder injury, Gabe Norwood (right) became the playmaker for the now 6-1 league leaders, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. Jeff Venancio
