James Yap came up with a blistering 30-point performance against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, saving his B-MEG Llamados team in a win-or-go-home situation, and afterwards, dedicating the victory to his former mother-in-law, the late former president Corazon Aquino.

"Gusto ko ialay ang panalo na ito sa number one fan nating lahat: kay Mom Cory," Yap said.

Yap was married to Aquino's youngest daughter for five years. The couple separated in 2010.

The former president passed away three years ago on August 1, making Yap's 30-point game a timely tribute to her.

Yap got things off quickly with a three-pointer at the 9:42 mark of the first quarter, before following it up by scoring eight-straight points for B-MEG.

In the second period, Yap got off a triple with a second to go to give his side the lead headed into the intermission. He then accounted for four points of a decisive 13-5 run over the third and fourth periods which gave the Llamados their first double-digit lead, 72-61.

The two-time PBA MVP then finished things off with two charities and a lay-up, fittingly scoring his side's last two points.

Yap shot 13-of-23 from the field, including a 2-of-5 mark on route to his 30 points. He also made both of his free throw attempts, and added two rebounds, two assists, a steal, and zero turnovers.

"Big Game" James will have another opportunity to be the hero on Friday, when his side tries to force a 3-3 deadlock against the Elasto Painters in the 2012 Governors' Cup Finals series. - AMD/ELR, GMA News
