After watching the Air21 JRU Heavy Bombers force a game three in their semifinals series against the NLEX Road Warriors, Blackwater Sports made sure to pull off the same feat. The second-seeded squad pummeled the Cagayan Valley Rising Suns, coming out on top, 86-79, Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena. Starting center Justin Chua had 16 points and four rebounds in just minutes of play to lead six members of Blackwater with at least nine points scored. UST mainstays Karim Abdul and Kevin Ferrer had 10 each, and combined for 16 rebounds, while Robby Celiz, Allan Mangahas and Pari Llagas, made an impact on offense as well. Despite failing to blow the game wide open, Blackwater Sports lead from start to finish, with their defense holding Cagayan Valley to just 41.9 percent shooting from the field, while converting 47.8 percent of their own attempts. Eliud Poligrates led all scorers with 23 points on 9-of-18 shooting, and added five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block, versus just one turnover. Chris Exciminiano scored 15, but turned the ball over seven times, while Edrian Lao was a surprise contributor, producing a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Game one hero James Forrester managed a mere seven markers and six miscues for the Rising Suns. Game three is set for Tuesday, with the winner advancing to face whichever side emerges from the NLEX vs Air21 JRU clash. - AMD, GMA NewsThe scores: Blackwater 86 - Chua 16, Celiz 12, Abdul 10, Ferrer 10, Mangahas 9, Llagas 9, Bagatsing 7, Vigil 5, Fortuna 4, I.
