The Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters forced overtime with 2.7 seconds remaining, before blanking the Petron Blaze Boosters in the extra period to emerge victorious, 93-85, on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. TNT import Donnell Harvey was the best player of the game with 38 points, 17 rebounds with a 16-of-18 shooting clip. The 2012-13 Philippine Cup champs improved to 5-4, while Petron settled at 6-3, in the standings. A Marcio Lassiter three at the 2:16 mark gave Petron a three-point lead, 82-79, before a Cabagnot floater made it a five-point game. Cabagnot tried to add to his side's margin, but his airball rang in the final minute, before Jayson Castro failed to nail a floater at the other end. TNT had to start fouling to halt the time, and Cabagnot split from the line with 37.1 seconds remaining, for a six-point Petron lead, 85-79. Ranidel De Ocampo hit a three at the other end to make it a one-possession game, and then Arwind Santos failed to put the game away by missing two free throws. The two teams figured in a jumpball with 12.7 seconds remaining, and the ball ended up with Jimmy Alapag, who faked Cabagnot and sank a three from the top of the key with 2.7 seconds remaining, knotting things at 85-all. Petron had a chance to set up a final shot, but Ronald Tubid's lob to June Mar Fajardo sailed out of bounds. Harvey had a chance as well with a heave, but his final attempt bounced off the rim. It was all TNT in the extra period, as Kelly Williams sank a jumper at the 4:24 mark, before Harvey converted on a put-back to make it a four-point game. Rodney White continued with his lackluster performance, putting up an airball before forcing the ball inside, leading to another TNT possession. A Castro drive and dish to De Ocampo made it a six-point game with 2:10 remaining, before The Blur himself finished the game with a wide open lay-up with 39 seconds to go for the final score. Petron went up 6-0 at the start of the game, with Joseph Yep, Marcio Lassiter, and Rodney White finishing lay-ups. After a timeout, TNT responded with shots from Donnell Harvey and Jimmy Alapag, before the Tropa's import sank four free throws to take the lead, 10-8. A June Mar Fajardo lay-up, followed by a Marcio Lassiter jumper, had Petron leading anew, before Larry Fonacier nailed a trey followed by a Rabeh Al-Hussaini put-back, 15-12. TNT looked to keep the lead to end the period, but back-to-back hits by Fajardo had the Blaze Boosters leading after one, 18-17. Petron found themselves struggling to set up their offense early in the second, as they committed twin 24-second shot clock violations. Four straight points from Harvey had TNT up four, 26-22, at the 5:54 mark, but consecutive hits from Lassiter gave Petron the lead, 29-28, with 3:51 to go. Two free throws from Fonacier gave TNT the lead for the moment, but five straight points from Fajardo had Petron ending strong, 36-33. Petron rode White and Lassiter in the first half of the third, maintaining a four-point lead, 45-41. Fonacier responded with a three and a put-back, tying the game at 48-all at the 3:55 mark, before a Harvey basket put TNT ahead anew. A quick hit by Ranidel de Ocampo made it 53-50 for the Tropa, but consecutive put-backs from Arwind Santos grabbed the lead for Petron, 54-53. A pair of free throws from Chico Lanete ended the period with the Blaze Boosters sustaining their slim lead, 56-53. A Harvey and one tied the game at 58-all, before a pair of free throws from the TNT import was followed by an Alapag trey to give the Tropa its biggest lead to that point at the 8:55 mark, 65-60. Lassiter responded with his own three, before Jay Washington made it 65-all. The two teams then went on a shootout, with Cabagnot and Santos challenging Larry Fonacier from beyond the arc. In addition to Harvey, Larry Fonacier poumped in 18 points for Talk 'N Text, along with five rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Jimmy Alapag contributed 10 markers, plus another seven dimes. Marcio Lassiter paced Petron with 18 points, while Arwind Santos was a rebound shy of a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. June Mar Fajardo had 13, following his terrific performance in Petron's import-less win against Rain or Shine in their previous outing. Import Rodney White, brought in to replace the banned Renaldo Balkman, had a miserable debut, finishing with just 12 points on 5-of-17 shooting, plus seven boards, an assist, a steal, and two rejections. TNT bested their foes in the assists category, 25-to-15, and took nearly double the amount of free throws, 34-to-18. - AMD, GMA News The scores: TALK N' TEXT 93 - Harvey 38, Fonacier 18, Alapag 10, Williams 7, De Ocampo 7, Castro 6, Dillinger 3, Al-Hussaini 2, Alvarez 2, Aban 0, Carey 0 PETRON 85 - Lassiter 18, Santos 14, Cabagnot 14, Fajardo 13, White 12, Washington 6, Lanete 4, Yeo 4, Tubid 0, Pena 0 Quarters: 17-18, 33-36, 53-56, 85-85, 93-85
