Cafe France Bakers 80 - Big Chill Superchargers 75 A strong start paid big dividends for the Cafe France Bakers, as they had a large-enough buffer thanks to a strong first quarter start to endure the comeback attempts of the Big Chill Superchargers, 80-75. It was Cafe France's third straight win, taking them to 3-1, while Big Chill continued their up and down conference, falling to .500 anew at 2-2. After the Superchargers took a 4-2 lead, the Bakers used a 13-1 run to go up 15-5, 4:21 left in the first quarter, before settling for a 16-point buffer at the end of the initial 10 minutes, 29-13. Big Chill endeavored to chip away at their deficit, getting to within single digits by the start of the fourth, 66-57. But after hits by Mar Villahermosa and Romeo got their side all the way within three, 78-75, with under a minute to play, Superchargers head coach Robert Sison drew an ejection after he was slapped with his second technical foul of the game for arguing Villahermosa's sixth foul Mon Abundo then converted two of the bonus charities to seal the deal for the streaking Bakers. Mike Parala top-scored for Cafe France with 15 points and nine rebounds, leading four other players with double-digit scoring. Alfred Batino completed a double-double with 14 points and 15 boards, Marion Magat added 13 markers, eight boards and two swats, while Abundo and Mark Lopez had 10 apiece. Terrence Romeo led all scorers with 23 points but he needed 21 attempts. Mar Villahermosa chimed in with 14, while Arvie Bringas made his presence felt with 13 points and five boards. +++
Boracay Rum Waves 85 - EA Regen Med 75 The Boracay Rum Waves saved their best for last, nearly doubling EA Regen Med's output in the fourth quarter, 30-16, as the veteran D-League squad turned the tables on their upstart opposition, 85-75. The Waves improved to 3-2, while newcomers EA Regen Med settled for a 1-1 card after beginning their maiden campaign with a win. EA Regen Med started the first quarter with a bang, establishing a 26-12 lead, but persistent play from the Waves had them within single digits, 59-55, with ten minutes left to play in the game. Roider Cabrera finally got his Waves out ahead, nailing a triple at the 7:52 mark that made it 64-63. Coach Lawrence Chongson's charges then made sure not to relinquish their advantage, as a Paolo Taha basket gave Boracay Rum an 80-72 lead. After a Maclean Sabelina score, Paul Sanga would convert a triple for one last challenge, 82-75, but Taha would pile on three more markers to arrive at the final difference. Sabelina lead all scorers with 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while Paolo Taha added 21 points. Both players also added eight rebounds. Point guard Jeff Viernes contributed 10 markers, six assists and two steals. Jimbo Aquino paced EA Regen Med with 20 points, eight boards, a block and a steal. Jeckster Apinan added 17 points, two assists, two steals, and two blocks, while Ian Sangalang contributed a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. +++

Cagayan Valley Rising Suns 83 - Jumbo Plastic Linoleum Giants 74 The Cagayan Valley Rising Suns shook off a tightly-fought first half to secure an 83-74 win over the Jumbo Plastic Linoleum Giants in the final game of the day's triple-header. The Rising Suns, finalists in the 2012-13 Aspirants Cup, notched back-to-back wins to improve to 2-1, while new club Jumbo Plastic sank to 1-4. The Giants led 31-30 at the end of the first half, and then stretched their lead to 39-30, but the Rising Suns engineered a 6-1 blast to go on top, 50-49, drawing a timeout from their foes. The quick break however didn't exactly help, as scores from Anthony Del Rio and Adrian Celada stretched their advantage to 58-55, a quarter left to play. In the fourth, back-to-back hits by Mark Cruz gave the Rising Suns a 10-point buffer, 65-55, which Eliud Poligrates extended to 77-63. Twin makes by Jul-Ashri Ignacio ate into Jumbo Plastic's deficit, and an and-one play from Aljon Mariano sliced it even further to 77-70, but with just over a minute left, charities from Ping Exciminiano gave his team enough of a buffer to pick up the victory. Eliud Poligrates led Cagayan with 17 points, two rebounds, two assists and three steals, while starters Adrian Celada and Ping Exciminiano combined for 27 points, six rebounds and six assists. Jul-Ashri Ignacio poured in 16 points for Jumbo Plastic, while Aljon Mariano and Elliot Tan accounted for 13 markers each, but it was not enough for the Giants to win their second game.
