NBA: Nuggets' Masai Ujiri to be named Executive of the Year - report
Add another feather to the Denver Nuggets' cap.
Though the team was unable to get out of the first round, its general manager, Masai Ujiri, is set to be named NBA Executive of the Year, the Denver Post's Benjamin Hochman reported, citing a source.
Ujiri, who is "the first African-born general manager in major American sports," will be formally honored with the citation on Thursday (Thursday evening, PHL time) by the league.
Voting is done by representatives from each of the 30 teams.
Ujiri is perhaps best known for sending Carmelo Anthony to New York in February of 2011, getting players like Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari in return, along with the Knicks' 2014 first round draft pick. This offseason, he dealt Arron Afflalo as part of a multi-team deal, snagging Andre Iguodala in exchange.
The Nuggets went on to win a franchise-record 57 victories, good for the third seed in the West, along with another team-record, 38 home games.
