Four Filipinos banner ABL MVP nominees
Four Filipino ballers, including two from the San Miguel Beermen, banner the list of five Asean Basketball League MVP nominees, the league announced in a statement, Tuesday.
The Beermen, who finished the regular season with the best record in the league, are represented by Fil-Italian point guard Chris Banchero and PBA veteran Asi Taulava.
Banchero played just 16 out of the 22 regular season games due to injury, but still normed 11.95 points, 2.75 rebounds, 4.19 assists, and 2.19 steals.
Taulava on the other hand figured in every elimination round match and averaged 10.86 points, 7.36 rebounds, and 0.68 blocks, while standing his ground against the imports of the other teams.
Two other Filipino guards were nominated, namely the Saigon Heat's Jai Reyes (13.80 points, 2.70 rebounds, 5.95 assists) and Sports Rev Thailand Slammers' Froilan Baguion (10.48 points, 4.52 rebounds, 9.24 assists 2.67 steals).
The fifth nominee was Mario Wuysang of the Indonesia Warriors (11.86 points, 2.23 rebounds, 1.82 assists).
The league will announce the winner of the AirAsia ASEAN MVP award on Wednesday. - AMD, GMA News
