(Updated 10:09am) After meeting with the players involved in last Tuesday's brawl at the Cuneta Astrodome, PBA commissioner Chito Salud announced Friday that he was imposing two-game suspensions on the fight's primary participants, GlobalPort Batang Pier Kelly Nabong and San Mig Coffee Mixer Marc Pingris, the league announced Friday via their official Twitter account.

In addition, the two were each fined P60,000 for their respective attacks.

Other players drew lighter sanctions. Mixer Joe Devance was suspended for one game and fined P30,000 for "triggering the commotion that led to the fight," while Batang Pier Marvin Hayes was fined P20,000 for his flagrant foul penalty 2 on SMC import Marqus Blakely.

"With this, it should be clear to everyone that instigators, hotheads and troublemakers have no place in the PBA and will be dealt with severely," Salud said in the statement.

"Finally, I want to remind our players that long after sanctions have been served, your overall conduct's impression on our youth will continue to last.

"Be more circumspect in the future."

The scuffle unfolded at the 8:11 mark of the third period when Blakely and Hayes fell to the floor in a shoving match. Afterwards, Devance joined the scrum by shoving Hayes, which led to Nabong charging in, and being met by Pingris.

San Mig Coffee eventually prevailed 102-88. - AMD, GMA News
