Prince Caperal has been relegated to practice player status in the 2013 Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar, missing the final cut Sunday before the start of the basketball competitions in Naypyitaw.

Caperal was cut during the managers’ meeting to finalize the 12-man line-up of the Philippine men’s basketball team, which will begin play on Monday against Singapore at the Zayar Thiri Indoor Stadium.

Despite being cut, the Arellano University center is with the team in Myanmar and will still join team practices during the whole duration of the SEA Games.

The set-up is similar to what UST Growling Tigers Jeric Fortuna and Jeric Teng, as well as Ateneo center Justin Chua, faced back in 2011.

The Philippine team will now be composed of naturalized player Marcus Douthit, skipper Kevin Alas, Garvo Lanete, Jake Pascual, Ronald Pascual, Matt Ganuelas, Bobby Ray Parks, Kiefer Ravena, Jericho Cruz, Kevin Ferrer, Mark Belo, and Roi Sumang.

The Philippines drew a bye in the first day of competitions on Sunday. Earlier today, Thailand defeated Singapore, 69-59. - Reuben Terrado, SPIN
