Perlas Pilipinas suffered a huge loss at the hands of Thailand, losing 75-36, Tuesday at the Zayar Thiri Indoor Stadium in Naypyitaw, Myanmar, to even their record at 1-1 in the 2013 Southeast Asian Games.

The Philippines scored just four points in the first period, while giving up 18, and the deficit was just too much for them to erase.

The Thais were able to rack up the win despite it being their first game of the tourney.

Juthamas Jantakan led all scorers with 22 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Chonticha Chirdpetcharat added 17 points, six boards and a block while Juthathip Mathuros finished with 14 markers, 12 boards, six dimes and two swipes.

A total of four Thai players finished with double-digit rebounds.

Analyn Almazan paced the Filipinas with nine points and 15 rebounds. Mary Joy Galicia and Camille Sambile added eight points apiece off the bench.

The trio of Joan Grajales, Merenciana Arayi, and Melissa Jacob finished a combined 1-of-36 from the field with five poitns between the trio.

When these two sides played in 2011, Thailand won a squeaker, 75-73, in overtime, winning gold as a result.

The Perlas ladies will get four days off, including tomorrow for the opening ceremonies, before facing Indonesia on Sunday and wrapping up their stint against the hosts next Monday.

Thailand finished shooting just 31 percent from the field, but it was more than enough against the Philippines’ 16 percent clip.
