PBA: GlobalPort swaps Garcia for Barako Bull's Jensen

The PBA has approved a trade between GlobalPort Batang Pier and Barako Bull Energy that will send rookie point guard RR Garcia to the Energy for sophomore forward Keith Jensen, according to Tuesday's announcement on the league's official Twitter account.

Garcia, selected sixth overall in last year's draft, averaged 6.4 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in almost 19 minutes per game for a Batang Pier squad rocked by trades and coaching changes throughout the past season.

However, Garcia will not lack for rivals for playing time with his new team. The Energy has veterans Willie Miller, Denok Miranda, and Bonbon Custodio, as well as rookie guards Jeric Fortuna and Carlo Lastimosa vying for minutes at both guard spots.

Jensen was once thought of as a bust until he showed strides in the current Governors' Cup, stepping up to average 8.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 23 minutes per game. The forward was picked eighth overall by Ginebra in 2012 before being dealt to the Energy for Josh Urbiztondo and a second round draft pick that the team used to select Fortuna.

Batang Pier acquires another wing forward with Jensen, giving them a slight scoring upgrade over players like Marvin Hayes and Mark Yee. - JDL, GMA News
