'Palpak sobra': Outrage, jokes online after Gilas vs NBA cancellation

Fans who bought tickets to watch Gilas Pilipinas play an exhibition game against a selection of NBA stars booed lustily after it was announced that no match would take place on Tuesday night.

 

Gilas coach Chot Reyes announced the development after the introduction of players, instead saying that an open practice will be held. Officials of PLDT, which bankrolled the event, also said it was willing to refund fans.

 

The news spread quickly online, drawing brickbats from fans looking forward to see the national team play against some of the world's top players.
