Taste of home: Gilas Pilipinas savors hard-to-find Pinoy food, unli-rice in Miami
Ask any Filipino abroad what he misses about home, and one of the first answers would most likely be: the food.
Members of the Gilas Pilipinas national basketball team are no different, as they begin their basketball journey toward the FIBA Basketball World Cup next month with a training camp in Miami.
For days, the team has made do with regular American fare as they start to step up their effort and preparation.
But on Tuesday, the Filipino basketball stars managed to get a taste of home after being treated to lunch by some members of the Pinoy community in the area, led by relatives of Gilas hotshot Gary David.
"Special thanks to @gry_dvd20 family and friends for having us at their home this afternoon. The food was amazing! I know @bigboybelga30 was especially grateful for all the unlimited rice," forward Jared Dillinger wrote.
Center June Mar Fajardo was so happy to have unli-rice that he posted a before and after photo of his plate.
At the end, the Gilas players were just grateful for the meal.

But it turns out that, just like they would in the Philippines, the feast didn't end at lunch time, as the Gilas players had take-home food from their hotels.
