PBA: ACL injury feared for Purefoods big man Ian Sangalang

Ian Sangalang may be out for six months for the Purefoods Star Hotshots after hurting his knee in the game that saw the Grand Slam champions fold 93-73 to the Alaska Aces on Wednesday.

"Hindi maganda. Dalawang ligament ata ang putol," Purefoods team official Rene Pardo told the league's official website. "Pina-MRI na agad namin and the result was that."

Pardo said that will send the result to team doctor Raul Canlas for a second opinion on the findings.

"Pero mukha talagang ACL tear. May narinig si Ian na nag-pop sa tuhod niya," Pardo said.

Sangalang landed badly after fighting for the rebound in the second half, drawing a foul in the process. He was down on the floor clutching his knee, but forced himself to stand up and shoot free throws that missed the mark.

The former San Sebastian star then sat on the bench in the next dead ball but moved shortly to the lockers to get his knee checked and treated. — Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA News
