The Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters cruised to a dominant 103-81 win over the NLEX Road Warriors on Friday at SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

The win improved the Tropang Texters' record in the 2015 Philippine Cup to 1-1, in a tie with the Road Warriors. Talk 'N Text earlier lost its first assignment against Ginebra, while NLEX won its PBA debut against GlobalPort.

It was the first win for the Tropang Texters under new coach Jong Uichico, who replaced Norman Black prior to the season.

"Maganda panalo ngayong, we're hopefully getting adjusted to each other," said Uichico, who had previous head coaching stops at San Miguel Beer and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

"As practices go on, as games go on, we keep improving, yun naman talaga yung goal namin."

Talk 'N Text jumped the gun on NLEX, taking a 28-15 lead in the first period. The Road Warriors rallied back to tie the game in the second quarter, but Talk 'N Text broke the game wide open by winning the third period, 36-21, to take a 20-point lead heading into the final frame.

Jay Washington rebounded from a quiet performance in Talk 'N Text's first game, finishing with team-highs of 19 points and nine rebounds.

Former Most Valuable Player Kelly Williams came off the bench for 18 points, while star guard Jayson Castro added 15 points and seven assists for the Tropang Texters.
