JVee Casio scored Alaska's last four points in the final 32 seconds to give the Aces a 66-63 win over the San Miguel Beermen on Wednesday.

The win gave the Aces the top spot in the 2015 Philippine Cup at 4-0 as they won the duel of unbeaten teams. San Miguel dropped to 3-1.

"Our guys are great, an absolute character win," said Alaska coach Alex Compton. "It was a defensive battle, really. I'm proud of our guys; we had stops in the end."

Tied at 62-all with 72 seconds remaining, Chris Lutz's split from the line pushed San Miguel ahead.

Casio responded with a jumper with 32 seconds remaining, before canning two charities to give Alaska a 66-63 edge.

Sol Mercado went for a game-tying triple that missed the mark, forcing San Miguel to play the fouling game to regain possession.

Calvin Abueva's two misses gave the Beermen an opportunity to send the game into overtime, but they were unable to connect given 7.9 seconds on the clock.

The game was a defensive struggle, with the Aces winning out as they held reigning Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo to just 10 points.

"The thing I'm most proud of is our 63 pts," said Compton, referring to the final score. "June Mar kept me up last night because he's so good. — Renee Fopalan, GMA News
