PBA legend Samboy Lim out of coma, now recovering at home

PBA legend Avelino "Samboy" Lim is now out of his comatose state and was taken home on Wednesday after more than a month in the hospital.

Lim is on his way to recovery and now responds to stimuli according to his family, who made the announcement on Facebook.

A member of the PBA's 25 Greatest Players list, the 53-year-old collapsed on November 28 during an exhibition match with former players at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City. He was rushed to the Medical City for treatment.

His hospital bills reached around P2.8 million, and he continues to be in need of constant medical care including equipment, supplies, and personal therapy at home.

His family expressed their gratitude to the supporters who helped them foot the expenses and included Lim's recovery in their prayers.

"Thank you again for your prayers and help to defray the medical bills of Sam," the post read. "We continue to be deeply grateful for your love and help."
