PBA: Kia trades Cervantes to Blackwater for Nuyles

Shortly after they finished their elimination round campaign in the Commissioner's Cup, Kia acquired Blackwater wingman Alex Nuyles in exchange for forward Reil Cervantes.

Carnival assistant coach Chito Victolero confirmed the trade in a text message to GMA News Online on Tuesday.

Cervantes was Kia's main man in the Philippine Cup, but he was sidelined in Commissioner's Cup due to an ankle injury. He averaged 8.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in six games for the Carnival this conference.

The former Tamaraw will bolster the front-line of Blackwater along with Bryan Faundo, Jason Ballesteros, JP Erram, and Gilbert Bulawan. He also brings in a shooting touch to contribute to the Elite's outside offense.

Nuyles, meanwhile, was rarely used by Blackwater in the conference, playing only four games and averaging 9.8 minutes on the floor. He had 3.5 points, one rebound, and one assist per game for the Elite.

The former Adamson Falcon had some brilliant moments in the Philippine Cup, but could not get the minutes on the court for the expansion franchise.

He will be an addition to Kia's strength in the wings which boasts of JR Cawaling, veteran Leo Avenido, Mark Yee, and Kenneth Ighalo. —JST, GMA News
