June Mar Fajardo once again showed his dominance in the Commissioners' Cup, leading among local players in the Best Player of the Conference race in the preliminary tally released by the league on Friday.
The reigning Most Valuable Player and back-to-back BPC of the Philippine Cup finished with 33.9 statistical points at the end of the elimination round, 1.7 points ahead of second-ranked Jayson Castro.
With his team San Miguel Beer already out of the playoffs, however, Fajardo is unlikely to repeat bagging the award in the mid-season conference.
The Kraken finished with 16.5 points per game, far from his strong outing in the All-Filipino tournament, but compensated by topping the rebounding (12.6 boards) and blocking department (1.9 swats).
The Talk 'N Text guard fared better in scoring with 17.1 points, adding 4.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists to tally a total of 32.2 SPs.
Rain or Shine's Paul Lee was not far behind at third with 32.0 SPs, registering 16.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. Barangay Ginebra's Greg Slaughter, meanwhile, had 16.2 points, 9.6 boards, and 1.9 assists for 31.0 SPs to land in fourth place.
GlobalPort sophomore Terrence Romeo barged into the top five after topping the locals in scoring with 20.8 points, adding 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists for 30.4 SPs.
Arwind Santos, Calvin Abueva, and Alex Cabagnot, who were among the top contenders in the Philippine Cup, fell from grace this conference ranking 18th, 24th, and 27th respectively. —JST, GMA News
