PBA: Ginebra acquires Sol Mercado from Barako Bull in exchange for Joseph Yeo
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel will have a retooled backcourt in the Governors' Cup after acquiring Sol Mercado from Barako Bull in exchange for Joseph Yeo.
The PBA announced the trade on Monday.
Mercado began the season with San Miguel Beer, which dealt him to GlobalPort in the Philippine Cup. It wasn't a long stay with the Batang Pier, where Mercado played just one game before being traded anew to Barako Bull.
He joins Ginebra's crowded backcourt that also features LA Tenorio, Mark Caguioa, Jayjay Helterbrand, and Emman Monfort.
The Gin Kings have been involved in a series of trades under new coach Frankie Lim. The team earlier shipped Dylan Ababou and James Forrester to Barako Bull in exchange for a draft pick. Ginebra also acquired Dave Marcelo from Barako Bull in a separate multi-team swap. -- JST, GMA News
