PBA: Nuyles surprises as Kia conquers San Miguel

Kia's imports combined for 35 points, but it was Alex Nules' efficient play off the bench that gave the Carnival a n 83-78 win over the San Miguel Beermen on Wednesday.

"We want to be the number one defensive team with the help of our import," said Kia coach Chito Victolero. "I challenged everyone to do their individual defense to give their best effort. Siguro sinuswerte lang. I'm very proud of my players; they believed they sustained the defense."

The Beermen got contributions from most starters, with import Arizona Reid shaking off a stomach flu to tally 17 points with 10 boards and six assists. He, however, also accounted for seven of the team's 24 turnovers. Marcio Lassiter chipped in 12, while June Mar Fajardo was limited to 11 of a 3 of 11 shooting clip.

Alex Cabagnot played hero off the bench for the Beermen, hitting 18 markers. The rest of the supporting cast only managed to combine for 14, though. - GMA News
