Gilas Pilipinas ends the 'Curse of Korea'

Exactly two years ago today, the Philippines ended its long history of heartbreak against South Korea on the international basketball stage with a victory in the semifinals of the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship.

 

More than ending the "Curse of Korea" and allowing Gilas Pilipinas to enter the championship match, the emotional victory also gave the country a ticket to return to the world basketball stage for the first time in nearly 40 years.
