Ginebra trades 3 point guards to Barako for Salva, 1st round pick

New coach Tim Cone began easing the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel logjam at point guard on Tuesday after dealing Josh Urbiztondo, Eman Monfort, and Jens Knuttel in a trade with Barako Bull.

 

In exchange, the Gin Kings ended up with former Ateneo star Nico Salva and a first round pick in next year's draft.

 

Upon taking over the team, Cone called the team's roster imbalanced because of the presence of too many point guards. Apart from those involved in the deal, Ginebra also has LA Tenorio, Sol Mercado, and Jayjay Helterbrand in the lineup.

The first round pick figures to be a valuable commodity next year, when star players such as Ray Parks, Kiefer Ravena, and Arnold Van Opstal could be available.
