PBA names 17 players to join Gilas Pilipinas pool for Olympic bid

The Olympic dream remains alive for Gilas Pilipinas.
The PBA on Wednesday announced that it would release 17 of its players to the Philippine national pool to compete in a qualifying tournament to gain entry to the Olympics in Rio De Janeiro next year.
Named to the pool are:
- Calvin Abueva
- Gabe Norwood
- Jayson Castro
- Ranidel de Ocampo
- Matt Ganuelas-Rosser
- Marc Pingris
- Terrence Romeo
- June Mar Fajardo
- Marcio Lassiter
- Japeth Aguilar
- LA Tenorio
- Greg Slaughter
- Jeff Chan
- Paul Lee
- Ryan Reyes
- Troy Rosario
- Ian Sanggalang
The league's Board of Governors approved the resolution after a meeting on Tuesday.
“The PBA commits to fully support the formation of the Philippine national team that will participate in the wildcard Olympic qualifying tournament on July 5-10,” said PBA chairman Robert Non.
“The PBA shall allow the PBA players so selected to attend practice sessions once a week, specifically every Monday for 28 weeks starting November, 2015,” he added.
The PBA also adjusted its calendar to start the third conference after the qualifying tournament next July. —JST, GMA News
