San Miguel hero Chris Ross named Philippine Cup finals MVP
San Miguel Beermen guard Chris Ross was named Most Valuable Player of the Philippine Cup finals on Wednesday shortly after leading his squad to a historic comeback in the championship series.
The Filipino-American guard scored 21 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished off five assists in a sterling effort for San Miguel, which became the first franchise in PBA history to win a title after coming back from a 0-3 deficit.
"First of all, I wanna thank the fans... we couldn't do this without you guys," said Ross.
An unheralded outside shooter, Ross made Alaska pay by hitting four three-pointers in San Miguel's 96-89 victory in Game Seven. He was also key in breaking the vaunted Alaska press, consistently finding his teammates for easy baskets in transition throughout the game.
Ross gave credit to his teammates for the team's comeback.
"We're all MVPs," he said. —JST, GMA News
