Strong start lifts TNT past NLEX
The Talk N Text Tropang Texters relied on their tremendous start to thwart the NLEX Road Warriors, 85-80, at the Philsports Arena on Sunday.
David Simon led the Texters with 23 points and 16 rebounds in 40 minutes of play, while Harvey Carey and Jai Reyes chipped in 11 each off the bench.
The Texters relied on a 34-15 opening quarter to take a comfortable lead, holding on to the advantage till halftime, 54-35. The Road Warriors tried to recover in the second half, outscoring TNT 26-13 in the third to trim the deficit to just six, 67-61.
However, the Texters had enough to re-establish a double digit lead in the final 3:49 of the game, virtually matching NLEX basket for basket to earn the win.
Al Thornton carried NLEX with 35 points, as the rest of the starters combined for just six markers.
