Green Archers dominate Blue Eagles anew 

Abu Tratter did enough damage in the payoff period to give La Salle a 92-77 victory over the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the semifinals of the 2016 FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup in San Juan City.

The Green Archers led 27-14 after the first, before La Salle's gunners found their mark from deep. Aljun Melecio led the offense in the second, hitting his third triple to give the Archers a 43-24 edge.

The Blue Eagles remained scrappy on offense, though, stringing short stabs from underneath the basket. 

Save for the buzzer-beating triple from Thomas Torres to end the half, it was all Ateneo in the final minutes of the second, uncorking a 16-5 run to cut the deficit to single digits, 48-40.

The Archers' shooting was less than stellar in the third, but enough points from all around kept the Taft-based squad ahead 66-56 heading into the final frame.

In the fourth quarter, La Salle went to their big men in the shaded lane, as Tratter led the onslaught to keep the Eagles at bay en route to victory. — APG, GMA News
