June Mar Fajardo won his third straight Most Valuable Player award on Thursday.

The San Miguel Beer center became the first player to win the PBA's top award three times in a row.

The 6-foot-11 big man tied the tally of William "Bogs" Adornado of three MVP trophies. Only Mon Fernandez and Alvin Patrimonio, who each have four, own more PBA MVP awards.

Fajardo beat out other contenders Jayson Castro and Calvin Abueva for the honor after leading San Miguel to the Philippine Cup title earlier this year. Fajardo returned from knee injury to help the Beermen get back from a 3-0 deficit in the finals against Alaska to win the series.

Chris Newsome of Meralco, meanwhile, won the Rookie of the Year award.
